BPAM EKO

19 August, 2024

We are thrilled to introduce BPAM’s all new EKO Platform. Deriving  its name from the Malay words 'Ekologi' and 'Ekosistem', it reflects our  vision of creating an ecosystem for sustainability data. Developed to  help financial institutions, the platform provides securities  classification based on Bank Negara Malaysia’s Climate Change and  Principle-based Taxonomy (CCPT) classification. Additionally, the  platform will also display the classifications based on the Sustainable  and Responsible Investment Taxonomy from the Securities Commission.

Why CCPT Classification?

The  CCPT classification, developed by Bank Negara Malaysia, provides a  comprehensive system to assess and categorize economic activities based  on their climate impact. This innovative framework enables financial  institutions to:
•    Identify and Manage Climate Risks: Effectively  classify economic activities to better understand and mitigate  climate-related risks.

•    Promote Sustainable Practices: Encourage and support clients in transitioning to low-carbon, sustainable business models.

•    Enhance Transparency: Improve reporting and transparency on climate-related financial exposures.

What Does the BPAM EKO Platform Bring?

1.   Centralization: EKO centralizes all relevant sustainability metrics in  one place, eliminating the need to navigate multiple sources.

2.  Crowd-Sourced Accuracy: We've incorporated a unique crowd-sourcing  feature that leverages collective insights to continually improve data  accuracy and interpretations of the CCPT framework.

3.  Streamlined Reporting: EKO provides tools to analyse and report on  sustainability data efficiently, aligning with BNM's requirements.

Together, we can drive positive change and build a resilient, sustainable economy.
